Knowledge and Wisdom: Evening Talks on Chapter VII of the Bhagavad Geeta
“Whatever is pure, active and inert, know that to proceed from Me; yet, I am not in them, they are in me.”
Shri Krishna, Chapter 7, Verse 12, Bhagavad Geeta

How can a limited mind understand or embrace the infinite? How can a wave lift itself out of its limited realm of consciousness and realise that it is nothing but the ocean?
In the Bhagavad Geeta, Krishna explains that first a seeker must discipline and integrate his mind so that it comes to implicitly obey the will of his discriminative intellect. But this is an intermediary stage where the seeker’s knowledge still exists only as intellectual appreciation.
In chapter 7 of the Bhagavad Geeta, Krishna explains the technique for the seeker to move beyond intellectual knowledge and experience the infinite subjectively.
Through contemplation on the nature of the Self, the meditator thus expands his consciousness, transcends his mind and comes to realise his Divine, all-encompassing nature. Such a seeker becomes a Man of Wisdom.

Rise in Love
![]() |
Is a weekend residential retreat for those aged 18 - 35 with Swami Swaroopananda, organised by CHYK UK, the youth wing of the Chinmaya Mission UK.
Both days will be filled with lectures, discussion, activities and reflection. The retreat is a chance to spend 2 days away from the rush of everyday life to reflect and explore life's deeper questions in the company of like-minded people and guided by a spiritual master.
The entire world talks about love. There are libraries of books dedicated to it. But how much do we really understand love? Love is the mother of all emotions and the cornerstone of spirituality. But all too often, we confuse pure, selfless love with selfish, emotional attachment.
Attachment demands of another. Love serves and sacrifices. Attachment can never be fulfilled. Love is fulfilment in itself. Attachment gives rise to duality. Love is an expression of oneness. Within each of our hearts lies the capacity to love; to give of ourselves and ask for nothing in return and in the process, to rise above our desires and discover lasting freedom and peace. All it takes is love.
